Functional Performance in a Work of Art...

9630 is a beautiful MSU Optimum Z03 grandson bred by Gary Witherspoon that Quick Mill Farms purchased ½ interest in as a yearling. He had such a correct look about him that we named him after the famous artist Picasso and coined the phrase that describes him, "functional performance in a work of art."

He continued to have that "look" as he matured and showed very successfully in 1997. Intermediate Division Champion, American Royal, Reserve Grand Champion at Puyallup, Grand Champion Performance Bull at the California State Fair. At Denver his "look" caught the eye of several Argentinean buyers. We sold possession of him to Terra Garba in Argentina.

9630 was sired by Heavy Hitter and out of Z03 daughter Miss Optimum 9228 who is an AAA Dam of Distinction.

 


PICASSO 9630 & dam

Picasso has been used in several herds, on both cows and heifers, without any calving difficulty. His calves have consistently had birth weights between 70-90 pounds. This is reflected in his BW EPD, which as dropped even though his sires BW EPD has increased dramatically.

Great Picasso Daughter

This cow had twins in 2001 and weaned off almost 1200 pounds of calf without a creep.

9630's first heifers in production are proving to be easy calving, good uddering, high milking females that are correct in structure with extra overall thickness. His performance is excellent. The traits most prominent in his progeny are added thickness, dark pigmentation and udder improvement. If these are traits you need in your breeding program then Picasso may be the bull for you.
