Magnum 05L - 8 Months Old

Magnum is a young bull for which we have high hopes. He was sired by MCA 10X Hardbound 505E and out of one of our top donor cows, QMF Miss Anna 01G.

Hardbound was a bull that caught our eye when he was a yearling, eventually was Reserve Grand Champion bull at Denver and later produced a champion pen of bulls at Denver as well. His EPD’s and accuracies improved as his calves and daughters came into production. When ownership interest became available, Quick Mill Farms, along with the rest of the Hardy Boys syndicate joined Allisons in keeping him in the Northwest.

505E

We had already used 505E in a couple of flushes, which produced 28 embryos making the choice easy. Hardbound’s phenotypical correctness and structural soundness are what we wanted to add to the high performance, high milk, high growth cows we had as donors. 01G is just that type of cow. She had the highest yearling weight of any heifer we have raised and her first bull calf was the highest calf in his contemporary group. Magnum is the first calf born out of these embryos and he shows a lot of promise.

Thickness, structural correctness and attractive phenotype, along with a powerful maternal pedigree, make this a bull we plan to use next breeding season. Semen will be available in the spring of 2002.
